Ideal Applicant
A Nevada-based county social services office or local human services nonprofit that administers utility voucher or energy-assistance programs and partners with United Way or other SAFE partner agencies.
Good Fit
- • Operates an established utility-bill or emergency energy-assistance program in Northern Nevada.
- • Is a recognized local partner (county social services, United Way affiliate, or community agency) able to accept and disburse vouchers.
- • Has an existing relationship or history of collaboration with United Way of Northern Nevada & the Sierra or other SAFE partners.
- • Can handle program-specific reporting and rapid voucher distribution.
Geography
All observed giving across the three available years was restricted to Nevada, with grants distributed to agencies across Northern Nevada counties rather than to other states.
Recipient Variety
Each year the fund supported about 13–14 distinct recipients that appear to be independent county social service offices and local charities, showing a moderately broad set of local partners even though dollars are heavily concentrated in a few lead partners.
New Applicants
The fund uses a preselected partner model and has very high repeat funding (13 returning recipients in the latest year) with only one new grantee observed, so unfamiliar organizations are unlikely to enter the portfolio absent selection as a SAFE partner.
