Access to Recreation Endowment Fund

Community Grants Program

Supports research into psychological and social wellbeing after spinal cord injury; funds postdoctoral fellowships, investigational grants, and interventional testing to develop and test psychosocial interventions.

Psychosocial Research

Grants focusing on art, music, dance, drama, and recreation for children with special needs; applicants should complete the online application and provide a detailed budget.

Applicant must be a non-profit organization or an individual applying for a service or support. | All programs must serve children with special needs. | Inclusive programs must have no less than 1/3 of the participants with disabilities. | Complete all sections of the grant application and submit all materials by the deadline. | Programs may receive grant funding once per calendar year (individuals are not limited).

Theresa Foundation Grant Program

Grants to organizations that provide service animals to veterans and people with disabilities; support generally limited to ADI or IGDF member/candidate organizations and currently focused on organizations that breed and raise puppies for placement.

Must be a 501(c)(3) public charity | Support generally limited to organizations that are members or candidates of ADI or IGDF | At this time grants awarded only to organizations that breed and raise puppies for placement (not rescue or shelter animals) | Grants cannot be used to purchase supplies or equipment

Assistance Dog Grants

To provide financial support to institutions, private or public organizations to educate, train and support children and adults that are mentally and/or physically handicapped.

If Applicant is a private entity: current IRS tax determination letter (e.g., 501(c)(3) | Only those contiguous to Vermilion county, Illinois are eligible for grants | No individuals (we do not fund individuals) | Will not fund routine operating needs; will not fund any project on an ongoing basis | Budget for the project and financial statements/tax returns for the previous two years required | If Applicant is a school, a letter from the Superintendent indicating support is required

Wheeler Foundation Grants

THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES SMALL GRANTS ($250-$2000) TO NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND IN SOME CASES, INDIVIDUALS DEMONSTRATING NEED TO IMPROVE FUTURE OUTCOMES.

Letter of inquiry (LOI) required | Applicant resume required | Proposed budget for expenditure of potential grant funds required | Documentary proof of non-profit IRS tax-exempt status (if applicable) | Non-profit prior year and current year-to-date balance sheet and income statement (if applicable) | Must be a qualifying distribution recipient per IRS 501(c)(3) and exempt under 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2) (for organizational applicants)
