About this program

The objective of the Elliott Carter Special Grants Program is to encourage the programming and dissemination of Elliott Carter’s full body of musical work through funding for significant projects involving the performance or recording of his works, especially those which are lesser known or require larger forces.

Eligibility

• Must be a publicly supported non-profit with U.S. IRS 501(c)(3) status or foreign equivalent, or be fiscally sponsored by such an organization
• Non-profit or commercial recording companies are eligible
• For recording projects only: individuals must be fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) organization
• Minimum of two years of performance or programmatic activity prior to application
• History of substantial commitment to the performance or recording of contemporary concert music
• Recording projects: at least one proposed Elliott Carter work must have three (3) or fewer available commercial recordings
• Recordings must be for commercial release and planned for release within 4 years of application
• The program does not provide funding for endowment funds
• Student ensembles, volunteer/community/amateur ensembles generally not eligible
• Educational institutions generally not eligible for student/credit-bearing activities
