Because the funder operates by preselection and is relationship-driven, general approaches should emphasize building local introductions and partnerships with intermediary recipients (for example community foundations already funded). Proposals are more likely to succeed when routed through known grantees or local partners and when requests match the foundation's typical small-to-moderate grant sizes and program areas (arts, community services, preservation). Unsolicited cold applications are unlikely to be accepted given the preselection policy and lack of public submission channels.
