Because the foundation funds by preselection and provides no public submission channel, organizations should pursue indirect routes: cultivate relationships with local intermediaries, previous grantees, board members or community leaders who can nominate or introduce them; emphasize a clear Maryland impact and concise project requests in arts, education, or local health; treat unsolicited application materials as accompaniment to a warm introduction rather than a primary access route.
