Applicants should prepare a concise Research Need Statement aligned tightly with building-design research priorities and request an introductory discussion with the Executive Director as described in the RNS guidelines; positioning as a credible university or institutional research team and demonstrating capability to deliver applied, publishable results will increase likelihood of being invited into the portfolio. Given the foundation’s selectivity and concentration of larger awards, unsolicited RNS submissions should be targeted, evidence-based, and framed to show clear industry relevance and partnership potential.
