Funds organizations working to change policies, power structures and other root causes so that all North Carolinians can lead fulfilling lives.

Eligibility

• Be a charitable, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization, college/university, religious entity, or government unit
• Use the grant for work that serves the people of North Carolina
• ZSR is legally prohibited from funding voter registration
• No funding for work that supports or opposes individual candidates or influences election outcomes
• Does not fund academic and medical research
• Does not fund capital campaigns, building projects, or renovations
• Does not fund conferences, seminars, symposiums, fundraising events, civic clubs, or endowment funds
• Does not fund equipment, furniture, computer purchases, land purchases, plant species preservation, or historic preservation
• Does not fund projects that focus exclusively on direct services (e.g., shelters, health care) or payment of debts
• Overhead and indirect costs for colleges and universities, scholarships, and private business ventures are not funded
