Shout for Good closes at 5pm on 4 August 2026 and your data goes with it.
In this article:
Shout For Good will cease providing its fundraising platform and all related services at 5pm AEST on Tuesday 4 August 2026. The platform is operated by Shout For Good Pty Ltd (ABN 45 163 218 639), which is part of the ANZ Group but is not a bank. The closure covers every product on the platform: donation forms, QR codes, fundraisers, peer-to-peer pages, ticketing, auctions, Occasions, Fund, and the physical card Terminal and app.
After that time, supporters who follow a Shout link or scan a Shout QR code will find nothing there. Embedded donation buttons on your website will stop working. Tax-deductible receipts will be unreachable for both donors and charities. Reports, participant lists, and financial data will be gone.
The sooner you act, the more you can recover.
(All facts in this section are sourced from Shout for Good's FAQs, verified 2026-07-29. Re-verify before relying on these facts, because the pages will change and will be gone after 4 August.)
Shout has published a detailed FAQ for affected charities covering the closure date, how final remittances work, what happens to events and auctions dated after 4 August, how to return the Terminal, and what to expect in the final report. That FAQ, at shoutforgood.com/faqs, is the primary source for every date and process in this article.
Shout's FAQ is explicit: Shout is unable to recommend a specific alternative or provide advice on the suitability of other products for your charity's needs. That is a factual statement about what the FAQ says, not a criticism. It does mean the one question every affected charity has, "where do I go from here?", is one you have to answer yourself. This article is intended to help with that.
If you are reading this before the deadline, there is still time to act. Work through this checklist in order.
If you need to reach Shout: email support@shoutforgood.com or call 1300 747 278. Shout has advised that responses may be delayed given the volume of enquiries.

If you have a ticketed event scheduled after 4 August, Shout will contact you individually about next steps for existing ticket sales. You can manage existing ticket sales on Shout up to the closure date alongside setting up a separate platform for any new sales. Download the Ticketing Participant Report before 4 August, that is your only record of who has purchased tickets. Any new tickets for events after 4 August need to be sold through a different platform.
For new event ticketing, you will need to set up a new platform, transfer any relevant attendee information manually, and send updated ticket or event links to registered attendees.
If you have an auction scheduled after 4 August, existing bids can be managed on Shout alongside a new platform. Shout's FAQ advises that charities can transfer bids across to a new platform, and that the charity must manage all bidding made prior to shutdown. Export your bid data and bidder contact details before 4 August.
For a small volunteer-run Australian charity, processing costs of $1,000 to $2,000 a year are not an abstraction. They are the size of a grant application, a printing run, or half a casual staff day. When a platform calls itself free but relies on donors being prompted to add a tip to cover platform costs, the fee has not gone away. It has been moved to your donors, and that is a different conversation to have.
A genuine replacement for Shout should be free to the charity unconditionally. No platform fee, no transaction fee, no credit card fee, ever, regardless of whether a donor adds a tip or not.
If your charity is DGR-endorsed, your donors expect to receive a receipt confirming their donation is tax-deductible. Under Australian tax law, only gifts to DGR-endorsed organisations qualify for a deduction, and the minimum is $2. The receipt must include your charity's name, ABN, a DGR endorsement statement, the donation amount, and the date. Donors can verify your DGR status at any time on ABN Lookup.
Any replacement platform needs to issue those receipts automatically, in the correct format, every time. Manual receipting at volume is how mistakes happen. The ACNC's DGR fact sheet sets out what is required.
One of the things Shout did was consolidate several fundraising tools in one place. Most AU charities replace that with multiple separate tools, each with its own login, reports, and fee structure. The practical cost is time, not money. A replacement that covers donation forms, event ticketing, and donor management under one login reduces the number of systems you are stitching together.
No platform replaces Shout perfectly. Migration takes time and effort regardless of price. Practical realities from migrations in other markets: date fields can break silently on any data import and trigger automation misfires, so check every date field after any data move. Email templates typically do not transfer; plan to rebuild them from scratch. These are not reasons to delay, they are reasons to be prepared.
Zeffy is a free fundraising platform covering donations, ticketing, memberships, peer-to-peer fundraising, and donor management for Australian charities on one platform. There is no platform fee, no transaction fee, and no credit card fee. That is unconditional and it does not depend on donors adding a tip at checkout.
Specific Zeffy features relevant to Shout users:
Zeffy does not import Shout donor data, transfer existing auction bids, or honour Shout-issued tickets. Migration from Shout to any platform is a manual process. There is no shortcut, and any platform that implies otherwise should be treated with caution.
Raffles and lotteries: Zeffy does not offer raffles or lotteries in Australia. Shout did run raffles. If your charity runs raffles, you will need a separate solution that complies with your state or territory's gaming regulations (each state has its own rules and threshold for permits). Neither this article nor Zeffy endorses a specific raffle platform; check with your state regulator before choosing one.
In-person card payments: Shout offered a physical card Terminal for in-person fundraising. Zeffy's in-person card payment capability for Australian charities is not verified at the time of writing. If in-person collection is central to your fundraising (market stalls, fetes, events), confirm Zeffy's current AU support for this before switching.
Zeffy is Canadian, not American. Some Australian charities have found this matters: Canada and Australia have similar legal and regulatory frameworks, and Canadian-built software tends to reflect a different set of assumptions than US-built products. Zeffy currently serves charities in the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia. Over $2 billion has been raised by 100,000+ not-for-profits on the platform globally, all without platform fees.
Every Shout donation link, fundraising page URL, embedded button, and printed QR code stopped working at 5pm on 4 August. If you have any of these still active on your website, in your email footers, or on printed materials, they are pointing to nothing. Replace them with working links to your new platform as quickly as possible.
After 4 August, neither donors nor the charity can access receipts through the platform. If a donor contacts you asking for a receipt for a donation made via Shout, you may be able to issue a new receipt directly from your own records if you downloaded your data before the closure. If you did not download your data, and Shout's records are no longer accessible, that receipt is gone.
If your charity is DGR-endorsed and a donor cannot produce a receipt, they cannot claim the tax deduction on their return. This is the most urgent reason to have downloaded all receipt and transaction data before 4 August. For more on what Australian tax-deductible receipts must contain, the ATO's DGR overview has the full requirements.
Shout advised that a final report would be sent within 30 days of termination, covering funds received and any fees and charges deducted. If you have not received that report by 3 September 2026, contact Shout at support@shoutforgood.com or 1300 747 278.
If you had a ticketed event or auction scheduled after 4 August and you did not move it to a new platform before the deadline, you will need to contact attendees or bidders directly, confirm their registrations from any participant report you downloaded, and set up a new event on a replacement platform. For event ticketing, Zeffy is free and supports paid and free events with attendee management.
Zeffy does not offer a verified Shout-to-Zeffy data migration tool at the time of writing. If you downloaded your donor data from Shout before the closure, you may be able to import it manually into Zeffy's donor management system, but the format compatibility is not guaranteed. Treat migration as a manual process and allow time to check all fields, especially date fields, after any import.
Yes. A receipt issued by Shout before 4 August is still a valid document for a donor's tax return, provided it contains the required information: your charity's name, ABN, a statement confirming DGR endorsement, the donation amount, and the date. The receipt does not expire when the platform closes. The problem is not validity, it is access. After 4 August, neither donors nor charities can retrieve receipts through Shout, so any receipt not already saved is effectively gone. Encourage donors to save their receipts now if they have not already. If you need to issue a replacement receipt and you have the transaction records from your own download, you can do so directly from your charity using the required details.
No. Zeffy does not offer raffles or lotteries in Australia. The feature is not available in this market. If your charity runs raffles, you will need a separate platform that operates under your state or territory's gaming licence requirements. Raffle regulation in Australia is handled at the state level, not federally. Each state has its own rules, thresholds, and permit requirements. Contact your state's gaming or fair trading regulator for guidance on what applies to you.
The Shout Terminal closes with the rest of the platform. Shout arranged courier returns of the device. If your charity relied on the Terminal for in-person donation collection at events, fetes, or market stalls, you will need an alternative in-person payment solution. Zeffy's in-person card payment capability for Australian charities has not been verified at the time of writing, so this article cannot confirm like-for-like replacement. Options you can research independently include Stripe Terminal (Stripe AU offers an NFP rate of 1.7% plus A$0.30 per domestic card transaction), Square, and similar point-of-sale solutions that support charity use.
