Goatlandia is a farm animal sanctuary in Sebastopol, California, home to 192 rescued animals. Most are goats, along with sheep, cows, horses, alpacas, chickens, ducks, geese, and peacocks. The sanctuary has also taken in rescued cats and dogs. Every animal is guaranteed a safe place to live out its life.
“If you can find it on a farm, you’ll probably find it here,” says Executive Director Ashley Armstrong-Radke.
A team of 11 runs the sanctuary and a certified organic farm whose CSA boxes help support the animals. Goatlandia also offers empathy education and animal-assisted healing programs for local youth, plus a summer camp. In the last couple of years, it moved from 2 acres to 36.
Challenges before switching to Zeffy
From paper to online tickets
Goatlandia came to Zeffy in June 2024 to sell tickets. Before that, event payments were mostly handled on paper. The sanctuary hosts a lot of events, from private tours and summer camp to the Bottle Babies Breakfast Club, where visitors book an hour to bottle feed baby goats.
The Bottle Babies Breakfast Club alone has brought in more than $77,000, and the team no longer signs visitors up by phone.
“We send people to our website to pick a time that works for them,” says Ashley. “Then we pull a report to see who’s coming that day.”

The 100% free solution
Then donations
In December 2024, Goatlandia added donations, and its first gift came in on Giving Tuesday. Now visitors can add a donation when they book, and the follow-up email links them back to Zeffy to give.
“The more we can do in one program, the better,” says Ashley. “I hate having a million different programs.”
“Many of our donors are used to writing checks by hand,” says Ashley. “Zeffy is a name people know, and that gives them a sense of security when they give online.”
Then email, the last piece
By early 2026, email was the last tool still outside Zeffy. Goatlandia paid about $1,000 a year for Mailchimp. In February 2026, the team moved its list into Zeffy’s email tool in one afternoon.
Now every email links straight to a Zeffy donation or ticket form.
“We link our Zeffy donation forms right in our emails,” says Ashley. “It makes sense to have as much as possible happen on one platform.”

“We’re a nonprofit, so cost always matters,” says Ashley. “Zeffy gives us a better bang for our buck. We get everything in one place instead of paying one platform for this and another for that.”

We asked Ashley what she’d tell a nonprofit that wants to leave Mailchimp but worries switching will be a lot of work.
“Just do it. It took us one afternoon,” says Ashley. “Having everything in one place saves you so much time in the long run. No more remembering a bunch of passwords or paying a bunch of invoices.”
